The Territory
Montefeltro
one of the homelands of European ham
European ham is a delight that conquers the most refined palates. The secret of its goodness is often the close link with the production area. Prosciutto di Carpegna PDO, a true gem among Italian hams, would not be what it is, if it were not produced in Montefeltro.
Montefeltro is a historical region of Italy, whose territory is divided between Marche, Emilia Romagna and Tuscany. The gentle hills, interspersed with wooded valleys create an enchanting landscape, in which an extremely pure microclimate welcomes the dry, salty air coming from the nearby Adriatic Sea. Here, pig breeding and processing have very ancient origins.
This dream scenario gives birth to a ham loved by those seeking authentic culinary experiences, uncompromising excellence and sustainability of production.
Prosciutto di Carpegna PDO and its territory: an inseparable relationship branded on each ham.
Carpegna
an ancient village in the Marche region
Carpegna is an ancient village with a great tradition, which still retains its historicity and cultural richness today. Above all, it is the silent and industrious place where a one-of-a-kind ham is produced. The municipality is part of the province of Pesaro-Urbino, in the splendid Marche region. The town is located along the slopes of Monte Carpegna, 748 meters above sea level, and enjoys a predominantly mild and dry climate. Its name probably derives from the Latin silva carpinea, meaning "hornbeam forest", since these trees are very widespread in the area. The extraordinary history of Prosciutto di Carpegna PDO was written among these hills, with the town of Carpegna having always played the leading role. While the origin of the raw material is limited to the Marche, Emilia Romagna and Lombardy regions, the processing of the hams takes place exclusively in the Municipality of Carpegna.
